pickleballHomestead Village offers a variety of activities and amenities to help you stay active, fit, and happy. Whether you enjoy walking, gardening, swimming, or dancing, there’s something for everyone. 

Senior Health and Fitness Day is May 29th. This is a national event that encourages older adults to make fitness a priority and to celebrate the benefits of physical activity.

One of the most exciting features of our community is that we offer fitness programs that help you improve your strength, endurance, balance, or coordination. Our programs are designed to be safe, effective, and fun for seniors. They are led by certified instructors who will guide you through every move and motivate you to do your best. You can also modify the exercises to suit your needs and abilities. The best part is that you can enjoy these programs with your fellow residents while having fun.

water aerobicsAll our exercise options at Homestead Village are available to all residents. Powerback Rehabilitation’s Wellness Coordinator leads some of the many popular programs, including Aging Gracefully Exercise Class that uses weights and bands to help with balance, stretching and flexibility. She also leads our Otago Exercise program which is a series of 17 strength and balance exercises that help reduce falls 35-40% with older adults. If you prefer some water with your workout, check out the Aqua Aerobics Class, which helps to relieve stress and helps to correct posture through various disciplines such as ballet, yoga and Pilates.  

Exercise is not only good for your body, but also for your mind and spirit. Studies have shown that regular physical activity can help prevent or delay many chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, and some cancers. Exercise can also improve your mood, memory, cognition, and sleep quality. By exercising, you’re investing in your health and well-being, and reducing your risk of disability and dependence. 

Homestead Village is perfect for taking a walk with fellow residents or bicycling around the community. With 90 acres, the campus provides plenty of opportunities to get out there and stay active. The well-equipped health club at the community has something for everyone. It features many of the amenities you would find in other fitness clubs. With an indoor therapy pool and walking track, you don’t have to worry about those rainy days to still enjoy the water or walking!
