2026 is significant as Homestead Village celebrates its 40th anniversary—a milestone that reflects decades of commitment to our mission and community.
Throughout the year, we will highlight important moments and milestones of Homestead Village’s History in our publications and platforms! Special events will also be planned to incorporate some additional fun.
January 2026:
From the Stauffer Spring House, to The Bachman Center, explore the Names of Homestead Village in an article from our President, Douglas Motter.
Hands Across Homestead:
Our January 2026 Anniversary kickoff was organized by Joel Clausen, Vice President of Resident Services. His “Hands Across Homestead” event was a re-imagining of the 1986 “Hands Across America” charity event which drew over 5 million people who lined up to hold hands across the country to raise awareness for their cause. Here at Homestead, nearly 400 participants, including residents, staff, volunteers, and even our construction partners, joined together to be part of our “human chain” of friendly faces.

Here’s what one resident had to say about the event:
“Thank you for an amazing Hands Across America event yesterday. It was a lot of fun! It was very gratifying to see all the people – residents, staff, Unidine, and we were told that even Warfel -all lined up and down the corridor. It was the first time that we got a sense of the vast number of residents and people who make Homestead Village the amazing community that it is and what great diversity and variety of people we have in our midst. Thank you for bringing us together. This was a terrific community bonding experience. We should all get together more often! ~Mark and Judith
February 2026:

Baking Contest:
In February, we look forward to a Pineapple – themed baking contest! Open to both residents and staff, this contest pairs a sweet treat with some friendly competition.

Also in February, Homestead Village will explore our surrounding neighborhoods by hosting a seminar on School Lane Hills history presented by STROLL Magazine columnist, Ben Webber! Since 2019, readers of this locally-focused magazine have enjoyed many fascinating stories regarding the history of this beautiful neighborhood and its unique homes, thanks to the well-researched articles written by Ben. Guests will enjoy learning about Our Place In History from the man who has passionately pursued the details of our regions past.
